WERE YOU BORN TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR?

Every entrepreneur is different, but the most successful ones all share these 10 personality traits.

Most aspiring entrepreneurs feel it in their bones -- they were born to be an entrepreneur, to the point where nothing else in life could satisfy them. They’re dissatisfied as employees, followers or consumers. They want to create, build and grow their own enterprises, and they’re filled with the passion of their own ingenuity. Entrepreneurs always like to think of themselves as trailblazers, boldly going where no one else dares.

According to Entrepreneurial StrengthsFinder “Nature trumps nurture as far as entrepreneurship goes. Most entrepreneurs are born, they learn to use their innate talents, and then they succeed. The ones who become superstars are the ones who had innate talent to begin with, and were able to make the most of that talent.”

Is entrepreneurship in your DNA? Here are signs you a natural born entrepreneur.

PASSION

Passion for what they do is what drives the successful entrepreneurs. If you don’t have a passion for what you’re doing, you’ll never succeed.  There will be days/months/years when you don’t make any money, you have no customers and everything just sucks but your passion will drive you to keep pushing forward.  It’s this passion that will help you to become the entrepreneur that you’re meant to be!

CONFIDENCE

Entrepreneurs are blessed with great self-confidence and an unshakable belief in their own abilities. It takes a lot of confidence to break out on your own into uncharted waters and persist with something you love, even if it is difficult. But entrepreneurs tend to be some of the most confident people around, and they have to be in order to see their vision through to the end.

PERSEVERANCE

Drive and the ability to stick with a task go a long way when it comes to building or running your own business. A lot of people don’t have what it takes to see a business through the tough times that can last for years, but at the end of the day, perseverance, tenacity and grit, are what make a great entrepreneur.

SELF-STARTER

You like calling the shots and being a director. Delegating tasks and assigning resources comes naturally to you. At the same time, you don’t like being told what to do. You like setting goals for yourself and managing your own schedule. You find challenges in everything you do and seek out opportunities to challenge yourself all the time. You are an ideas person. You’re always coming up with ideas.

CURIOSITY

One of my favourite words is curiosity. I think if you are curious, you create opportunities, and then if you open the doors, you create possibilities. Being curious is a defining quality of entrepreneurial minds, that restlessness and discontent are vital drivers of the entrepreneurial journey of discovery. So, are you a curious one?  If you are, you might just be a born entrepreneur.

COMPETITIVENESS

Just like the world's most successful athletes, entrepreneurs have an undying drive to be the best of the best, and are always finding ways to outdo their competitors. Entrepreneurs love to show off their competitive side through their successes, and won't give up until they're on top.

CONSCIENTIOUSNESS

Conscientiousness describes how well you attend to details. It is the state of being thorough, careful, or vigilant; it implies a desire to do a task well. It is your work ethic. It includes such elements as self-discipline, carefulness, thoroughness, self-organization, deliberation (the tendency to think carefully before acting), and need for achievement.

ABILITY TO PLAN

Planning every aspect of your business is not only a must, but also builds habits that every entrepreneur should develop, implement, and maintain. The act of business planning is so important because it requires you to analyse each business situation, research and compile data, and make conclusions based mainly on the facts as revealed through the research.

In the end, your business has to make money. If you’re someone who is good at managing it or is always looking to maximize revenue, you probably have that entrepreneur spirit burning inside you.

RISK-TAKING BEHAVIOURS

While most people would rather play it safe, entrepreneurs are the ones who see potential where there is risk. They are basically the ultimate optimists of the world because they always have that belief that no matter how risky something looks; their strategies will turn into huge long-term profits. They’ll tend to do whatever necessary to carry out their plans or ideas for something bigger, even if it means selling their house and running up their credit card debt. In other words, you have to be mentally tough!

A DESIRE TO BUILD OR CREATE THINGS

This doesn't necessarily mean physically building things, but entrepreneurs really love the process of putting things together to create something they can be proud of.

New challenges excite the entrepreneur and being able to build a successful business or product from the ground up is what motivates them. Entrepreneurs are creative. Sometimes, an entrepreneur's vision is neither logical nor systematic. But creativity has fueled the pursuits of virtually every brilliant mind known to date.

"The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that's changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks." Mark Zuckerberg
